The Resilient Kids Program Coordinator works in the Vancouver Community to assist in providing child and youth groups and family centered services where a parent has mental illness/addiction concern. The Coordinator will evaluate and expand the current program curriculum and recruit group facilitators from partner companies to run the sessions. The 24 sessions run from 4 to 6 hours long and include topics such as coping, communication and social skills, mental health education aimed at helping children understand their parent’s illness, peer support, building self-esteem and confidence as well as various relaxation activities. Clinical knowledge of family systems, child protection, child development, mental health and addictions is required. A team work and family-community centered lens is required.

Main Duties


  • Evaluate and expand on current curriculum for Resilient Kids Group and Parent Group
  • Organize and arrange Groups to take place throughout the year
  • Recruit group facilitators from partner organizations to run the group sessions
  • Oversee group facilitators in the coordination and facilitation of the group sessions
  • Provide clinical work and assist a research team
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of services delivered to the child, youth or family
  • Prepare for group launch in the Spring which would include event planning, referral intake and follow up
  • Assist the Child and Youth Mental Health Service (FACES Team) coordinate and co-facilitate the groups
  • Provide interdisciplinary clinical/case meetings.
  • Identify community resources for families
  • Develop and implement a counselling, support and intervention plan in collaboration with the family and their ICM team
  • Administrative duties such a tracking group type/# of group sessions/number of attendees; providing interdisciplinary clinical/case meetings; and identifying community resources for families
  • Work in a collaborative form with MCFD to serve in the best interest of the Child
  • Co-facilitate group parent education and support programs as needed
  • Pick children up from their homes using the company vehicle to bring to the sessions when necessary
  • Other duties as required.




  • Master’s degree in Social Services or Clinical Counselling required
  • Must be registered and approved for private practice by the BC Board of Registration for Social Workers or BC Association of Registered Clinical Counsellors
  • Two years’ experience in a leadership position, and experience working with special needs children/youth
  • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis training or the MANDT system is an asset

  • Great organizational, time and general management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the business community, other program staff, therapists, social workers, and other related staff, consultants and families
  • Demonstrated ability to use web-based programs and carry out computer-based administrative duties
  • Knowledge, training and experience in facilitating children and adult support groups
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adjust to new or unexpected events and to deal effectively with conflict




  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR & AED Level C certificate (or obtain within 3 months)
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with satisfactory drivers abstract and ability to drive company vehicle
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some evening and weekends
  • Union membership is required
